Affinity 2007 Conference
NYU Kimmel Center, New York, NY
July 8 - 12, 2007

Travel

The University is located at Washington Square Park on the island and borough of Manhattan in the neighborhood called Greenwich Village. The Hotels, University Housing and Venue for Affinity 2007 are accessible from all airports by a number of modes of transportation. Below are directions for getting to NYU Kimmel Center at 60 Washington Square South.

By Plane

Travel arrangements to New York City are relatively straight forward. By plane, there are two International Airports, John F. Kennedy International (JFK) in New York City and Liberty International (EWR) in Newark, NJ. LaGuardia Airport (LGA) in Queens, NY is another airport near Manhattan that can be used for travel within the United States. From La Guardia, Kennedy, or Newark Airport, take the airport shuttle bus to Port Authority Bus Terminal or Grand Central Station. From Port Authority, take the A or E subway downtown to West Fourth Street-Washington Square Station. From Grand Central, take the Lexington Avenue subway (No. 6 train) downtown to Astor Place Station. Cabs and car services are available at the airport and, even though they cost more, they are your best bet if you have a lot of luggage. Plan on spending at least $35 to $50 (plus tip and tolls) depending on the airport and time of day. The toll is typically the cost to get into Manhattan via bridge or tunnel. That cost should be no more than $6.00. The tip is normally about 10% of the fixed rate.

Our primary intention in making these housing arrangements was to provide accomodations that were both nearby and affordable.  Naturally, there are fine hotels that are nearby, like the Soho Grand Hotel, but not exactly affordable and vice versa. The idea of shared-housing in the style of the Gordon Conferences is one possibility of offering a more affordable housing option. If there is interest in room sharing, please notify us at
